Community-Based Health Intervention
Project Thrive
Astitva’s community-based initiative focused on addressing anaemia and strengthening overall health and wellbeing among adolescents and adults in tribal communities of the Nilgiris. The project combines health awareness, screening, and targeted interventions to help individuals understand anaemia, improve dietary practices, and access appropriate care and government health services. Through sustained community engagement and close follow-up, Project Thrive aims to build knowledge, resilience, and long-term health-seeking behaviour, supporting individuals and families to lead healthier, more productive lives.
Achievements
Interventions
I. Nutri-Kit Distribution
Our food distribution program provides anaemic individuals with iron-rich foods like dates, spinach, and pulses on a weekly basis to improve their health and well-being.
II. Administering Medicines
Our Community Health Ambassadors manage and oversee medication for community members under treatment.
III. Medical Camps
Regular medical camps conducted within the community, offering anaemia screenings, general health check-ups, consultations with doctors, and provision of necessary medications.
IV. Awareness Program
Our awareness program educates the community about anaemia through interactive methods, campaigns, and events, using participatory approaches and competitions to disseminate information widely.
Our Last-Mile Model
Our last-mile connectivity model ensures community participation in health camps, facilitates identification of health concerns preemptively, maintains health records for each family, procures and administers prescribed medicines, monitors medication adherence, follows up regularly, distributes nutri-kits, and conducts awareness programs.
